Students and teachers to be sent to reputed foreign institutions for integrated training and joint research

 Tamil Nadu Government has signed a pact with British Council for sending students and teachers hailing from the state to reputed foreign institutions for integrated training and joint research. This is a "first-of-its-kind" initiative aimed at skill development.

As per an official release a memorandum of understanding was signed between Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education and British Council in the presence of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

25 students and five teachers, all of them from state government-run colleges, will be sent to study for one semester to a foreign institute in 2013 and the chief minister has approved a sum of Rs 15 lakh for each them through the Council.
 
Council's Vice-Chairperson Cynthia Pandian and Director, South India British Council, Paul Sellers, signed the pact.
