South Asian University announces commencement of Ph.D courses from coming academic session

An official statement from the SAARC-established South Asian university said that it will be starting Ph.D. courses from the coming academic session.

G.K. Chadha, university's president, making the announcement after an approval from the governing board, said the research scholars would be inducted into the Ph.D. programmes through an entrance test followed by a personal interview.

All the candidates of the research programmes would be eligible to apply for the on-going South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Silver Jubilee Scholarship, instituted by the Indian government especially for SAU students.

The maximum scholarship for research scholars carries full fee waiver, free stay in the hostel, a monthly allowance of Rs.12,000 and a fixed start-up amount. There are 25 scholarships earmarked for Ph.D. students.

South Asian University was established by the governments of the eight SAARC nations in 2010. The university is functioning from a government building in the national capital.
