Education system fails to inculcate human rights values among students

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairperson K.G. Balakrishnan expressed his disappointment over failure of the country's education system to inculcate the human rights values among students. He said that it remains a matter of deep concern.

While speaking at day long national conference on human rights education he said, "Despite the progress made relating to promotion and protection of human rights in the country, the violations of human rights remain a matter of deep concern."

"This is due to failure of education system for not been able to inculcate human rights values among students," he said.

The conference deliberated on the need to revise school curriculum by analyzing the human rights education at the school level in the country.
