TN CM to inaugurate ICT academy

Madurai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi would inaugurate an Information and Communication Technology Academy and also launch a training programme in IT domain for College teachers of the Madurai Kamaraj University tomorrow,officials said.

The ICT Academy is a consortium initiated by the Central and State governments in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry,they said. The Higher education teachers handling Computer science classes in Arts and Science colleges would receive two-day training.

The officials said one faculty member from each college under the university jurisdiction would be trained. Experts from Cognizant and Tata consultancy services would provide the training, objective of which was to bridge the gap between the theory, requirement of the industries and the latest
developments in the field.

The training course-J2EE and best practices in software development would focus on what industry expected from students and colleges. Thirty teachers would be trained in the first phase.
