Germany expresses interest in vocational training in West Bengal

German Consul General in Kolkata, Rainer Schmiedchen, who led an Indo-German Chamber of Commerce delegation to the state Secretariat said, "Discussion with (West Bengal) Finance Minister Amit Mitra for nearly two hours was interesting and revealed prospective areas more vividly."

He said they are looking into investing in the manufacturing, automobile, mining, tourism, vocational training and food processing sectors of the state.

"We are also looking for a new visa policy to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries," he said.

Director General of Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Bernhard Steinruecke said that the 100-years old Indo-German trade relations began with the Siemens.

"We want to strengthen it further to boost bilateral relations between the two countries," he added.
