Northern Region Science Congress begins on Nov 26

An alternative path to meet India's energy needs, genetically modified products and job prospects for youth will figure prominently at the Northern Region Science Congress beginning here from Nov 26. .

"To contemplate upon the science for the future growth of India and its various aspects, the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) will hold a 2-day Science Congress," V M Trehan, Chairman of ISCA, told reporters here.

It will draw participation of ISCA's members as well as students from different states of northern region to discuss prospects of science for the country's development.

Responding to a query on educational institutions in India lacking enough technology to strengthen their faculty, he said things are changing gradually and now even government schools are providing computer education.

"It takes time to fully introduce the technical education system. Private schools were mostly equipped with it and even government schools are imparting computer education," he said.

New & Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah will inaugurate the event and Food Minister K V Thomas would be the chief guest at the valedictory session.
