Diploma, Certificate courses on Japan from September

Chennai: Diploma and certificate courses on Japan, organised by the recently established Centre for Japanese Studies, will begin from September 20.

Speaking to presspersons about the courses, N.Krishnaswami, President of the Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the Centre was established in association with SRM University and a memorandum of understanding was signed between both establishments in this regard on August 6.
The Chamber would take care of planning and conducting various programmes of study. For this purpose a Board of Studies had been constituted. The Board would be responsible for monitoring and updating the syllabi of the various programmes.
 
In addition, the Chamber would be responsible for building the necessary infrastructure for the conduct of the programmes, the University would take care of the conduct of examinations, evaluation, and issuance of certificates and diplomas, Mr.Krishnaswami said.

Both the courses would be on a part-time basis and the classes would be conducted on weekends only.  The duration of both the courses would be one year. The fee for the certificate course would be Rs.10, 000 and for the Diploma
Rs.15, 000.

Individuals who have passed plus two could join the certificate course and those holding a degree could join the diploma course. Each class would not have more than 30 students, he said.
