Skill development training made mandatory for all Engineering , Polytechnic and ITI institutes in Chhattisgarh

The Chhattisgarh government has made it mandatory for all the engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes and ITIs in the state to impart skill development training, officials said here.

During a meeting with the National Skill Development Advisor to the Prime Minister, S Ramadorai, here last evening, Chief Minister Raman Singh informed him that the government has made it compulsory for all the engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to provide skill development training.

It has been decided to provide training at these technical education institutes during evening hours and other free time to unemployed people for enabling them to set up small businesses.

The state government has also made it compulsory for certifying the workers in state industries for whom skill training is mandatory. Only those certified would be deemed as skilled labourers.

Singh also told the PM's advisor that a ten-year work plan has also been chalked out to increase employment avenues in the state's public and private sector industries.

Singh said the business enterprises in the state are being asked to specify the number of posts required for various jobs and facilitate training of the unemployed persons.

The state government is also planning to start three-month training courses for the youths in various Indian languages besides French, English and other foreign languages.

In this regard, all the universities and the colleges in the state have been directed to formulate plans for language courses at their premises during evening time.

The Chief Minister said under the Chhattisgarh Skill Development Mission they have set a target of developing 1.25 crore workforce as skilled workers through short-term courses for small businesses, during the next ten years.
