Two Bangalore schools honoured with awards

Two city schools are basking in the glory of being honoured with awards and their principals agree that they're great morale boosters.

Col. Tamojeet Biswas, principal, Rashtriya Military School, Hosur Road, said, "The award encourages us to further improve the school. It's an incentive for the staff and students. They feel privileged to belong to our organization." It has been adjudged Best Residential School in Karnataka across all categories. Nationally, it was placed 17th in the survey carried out by C-Force for Education World, New Delhi.

The school was set up in 1945 as a British regimental school for Indians and it's the first time the school has won this award. Col Biswas adds: "We've been trying for accreditation from the Quality Council of India and an award by an independent body is gratifying. We've been building leaders in the armed forces and other disciplines and will continue to do so."

Awards are not new for Indira Kothaneth, who for the second consecutive year has been judged Best Principal of the Presidency Group of Schools. The PGS Champions School Trophy also went to Presidency School, RT Nagar, for the second time in succession, at the felicitation for teachers of the group's schools.

"The award is a tribute to all teachers who work hard together as a team to make the school what it is," says Kothaneth. She adds that such awards make them determined to work harder next year. "The students are thrilled with the improvements in school and we work to bring in innovation. We introduced, among other things, more internal competitions, parental involvement and exposing children to a global vision," she said.
