MOU for Industrial training for students signed between PDPU and Indo Canadian Business Chamber

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gandhinagar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indo Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) to facilitate one month industrial training for five students in an Indo Canadian company, either in India or in Canada.

The students will work in companies from industries like renewable energy, water and clean technology, food processing infrastructure, automotive, education, oil and gas, biotech, tourism and information and communication technology.

ICBC is a registered not for profit organization, which was set up to foster bilateral relations between India and Canada in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. ICBC Gujarat will identify the Indo Canadian company and also help the students from School of Liberal Studies, PDPU with travel, accommodation and in identifying industries where training could be undertaken.

Jagat Shah, chairman of ICBC-Gujarat and professor Nigam Dave, dean, School of Liberal Studies signed the MoU on Friday in the presence of Indira Samarasekara, vice chancellor of University of Alberta and officials of companies like Bombardier, Mc Cain, Challenger Maniar, among others.

The MoUs will provide an international persective to students and will help them in their research. The training will expose the students to global issues and give them a first hand experience of the Canadian industry, Dave said.

PDPU also signed an MoU with University of Alberta, Canada to explore opportunities for higher education. The MoU will facilitate international exposure programmes, undergraduate internships, joint research activities and seminars for the students.

The MoUs were signed during an Indo Canada roundtable on energy, entrepreneurship and education hosted by PDPU on Friday.
