Engineering education for rural students at nominal fee from Punjab government

The Punjab Government has started a six-years B Tech Degree course for the students belonging to rural areas directly after class X with an aim to provide them the Engineering education at very nominal fee.
   
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson said that the Punjab Government has decided to establish Punjab Institutes of Technology (PIT) across the state.
 
The institutes would work in collaboration with Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. He said that earlier Punjab Government has set up a PIT at Mansa on trial basis and keeping in view the success of this, it has taken a decision to set up these institutes in the whole state.
   
He said that the Punjab Government has also ordered to create a special quota in each PIT for the students belongs to the weaker section of society and the upper income limit has been fixed at Rs 2.5 lakh annually to get the reservation benefit under this category.
