UP to appoint teachers on contract in medical colleges

Lucknow:  In a bid to overcome shortage of teachers and doctors in state medical colleges, Uttar Pradesh  government today decided to appoint teachers/doctors on contract basis in these colleges.

'The objective of appointment of teachers/doctors on contract in medical college is to ensure health care services and also to maintain quality of education,' secretary Medical Education, Harbhajan Singh said.

Singh said that necessary direction in this regard had been sent to the concerned principals. : The second phase counseling for five-year B.A.B.L degree course at Dr. Ambedkar Law Varsity for 2009-10 will be conducted in the University campus on August 22.

The schedule and cut-off marks for merit-listed candidates are as follows: For 50 per cent OC reservation (cut-off 73.875) counselling will begin at 9 a.m. on August 22. Counselling for S.C. (Arunthathiyar) (cut-off 55) and S.C. (Others) (cut-off 68.5) will be at the same time. For BC (Others) (cut-off 49.375) counselling will be at 11 a.m. For MBC/DNC (cut off 49), counselling is at noon.

The schedule and cut-off marks for waitlisted candidates are as follows: For SC (Arunthathiyar) (cut-off 51.75), counselling will begin at 9.30 a.m. on August 22. For SC (Others) (cut-off 67.5), it will begin at the same time. For BC (Others) (cut-off 40), counselling will begin at 11.30 a.m. and for MBC/DNC (cut-off 40.75), it will be at 12.30 p.m.

For special categories, which include children of ex-servicemen, physically handicapped, and eminent sportspersons, counselling will begin at 9 a.m. on August 22.

Eligible candidates who did not receive call letters can contact the chairman/coordinator of five-year B.A.B.L. admission 2009-10 to obtain duplicate call letter. Candidates have to bring all original certificates at the time of counselling, an official release stated.
