Sluggishness in global economy do not deter sale of forms for CAT 2012

Updated on: Thursday, September 20, 2012

Despite sluggishness in global economy, sale of forms for Common Admission Test (CAT) for business administration programme this year stood at a high of 2.15 lakh.

"According to preliminary figures available, 2.15 lakh CAT vouchers for admission to prestigious IIMs and other B-schools in the country were sold on the last and final day yesterday as compared to 2.06 lakh forms sold last year," said Prometric, which is partnering with IIMs in holding the test.

As many as 6,000 forms were sold yesterday, which was 33 per cent higher than last year, it said.

The demand also reflected a survey conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council, according to which there has been a "renewed growth" for graduate business and management education programme across the world.

The annual survey, which charts year-to-year application changes at the program level, shows that specialised master's programs in management, finance and accounting continue to show robust growth with an overall improvement in MBA programme.

CAT 2012 will be held between October 11 and November 6.
