Kerala government planning new higher education policy

Kerala government was planning to introduce a new higher education policy with stress on diversification and improvement of existing facilities, state Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb said.
  
A framework was being prepared for the new policy and all universities in the state would be brought under its ambit. The aim was to enhance quality in higher education, Rabb said, inaugurating the 'scholarship distribution function' organised by the state higher education council.
 
He said steps would be taken to revise syllabi in the higher education sector in tune with the changing times to make students equipped for competition in various fields.
 
The functioning of universities would be streamlined and lapses on their part in the conduct of examinations and announcement of results would be rectified, he said.
 
The department would hold a global education meet in which vice-chancellors, educationists and representatives of foreign universities would take part, the minister said.
