WB govt. to provide financial incentives to college and university teachers possessing PhD/MPhil degrees

West Bengal government decided to introduce Career Advancement Scheme(CAS) providing financial incentives to college and university teachers possessing PhD/MPhil degrees on the basis of UGC recommendations, state finance minister Amit Mitra said.

"The state higher education department has approved the scheme which has been vetted by the the state finance department," Mitra told reporters.

It would be given effect from November 1 this year, he said adding CAS would be applicable to teachers of universities, government and government-sponsored
and government-aided colleges besides, physical education teachers and assistant librarians in the state.
