Students launch 'Zero Illiteracy Zone': IIT-G

Guwahati:Students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) have launched a scheme 'Zero Illiteracy Zone' to educate students from Class I to Class X from the neighbouring villages.

At least 160 students have profited from their zero-illiteracy drive. Classes for the 'Zero Illiteracy Zone' is conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, located in the IIT-G premises.

Coaching given by IIT-G volunteers as reaped positive results among students in schools. Volunteers gave consolation prizes to encourage students.

The teaching sessions were not confined with youngsters in villages. They also benefited the Grade IV employees of the institute. The security guards had also taught to converse in English fluently to confront with abroad visitors.
