Four students from Savannah State University, USA, underwent one-month long summer Internship Programme at TNAU

Four students from Savannah State University, USA, underwent a one-month long summer Internship Programme at the  Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here from June 24.

They undertook short term research courses including screening for abiotic stress tolerance in banana, understanding genetic varieties for resistant starch at micro nutrient content in rice, and Biochar based seed bed system for treatment of tannery effluent, Dr N Kumar, Dean, Horticulture, said in a release today.

The programme was as part of the exchange programme between the Universities as both have signed a MOU, which covered education, research, community outreach activities and scientists and student exchange, he said.

During their internship till July 27, the students, all girls, were taken to Horticulture Research Station at Udhagamandalam and Yercaud and were given certificate after their successul internship, Kumar said.
