JVMP suggests allotment of unused industrial land to educational institutions

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM-P) suggested the Jharkhand government allot unused industrial land to set up professional educational institutions such as IIM, IIT while strongly opposing forcible acquisition of agricultural land.

Referring the Nagri incident on July 4 last when the villagers clashed with the police against setting up of IIM, IIT and National University of Study and Research in Law in Nagri in Ranchi, JVM Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur, Ajay Kumar suggested that the government identify lands already allotted for industrial purposes but lying vacant for years.

JVM has even referred one such land allotted to a public sector unit Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) in Ghatsila sub-division under his parliamentary constituency but lying unutilized for years.

Barring the employees quarters, Kumar demanded that the land leased out to HCL between the copper township of Musabani and Ghatsila under the sub-division should be taken back and alloted to the educational institutes keen to open its unit in the state.

In a letter forwarded to Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Kumar said if the state government was really sensitive about setting up of professional educational institutions, it should take initiative in this direction and allot to the interested educational institutions as the move would also protect the agricultural land.

JVM MP strongly opposed the government move to acquire agricultural land forcibly without opting for alternate route.
