TN DGE will conduct state level common exam for classes 10 and 12

The Directorate of Government Examination, Tamil Nadu will conduct the quarterly and half-yearly exams as state level common exam for classes 10 and 12 in Tamil Nadu.

The exams were so far being conducted at the revenue district level. Chief Education Officers of each district were responsible to prepare a separate question paper and conduct these exams.

As a result, lot of differences prevailed in the standard of question paper. Selected teachers of each district were engaged in preparing question paper for quarterly and half yearly exams. Finally, students found it difficult when they write the final exams as the question paper was prepared by the directorate.

In this situation, difficulties like standard, preparedness and infrastructure available in diverse schools faced by the students was brought to the notice of the state government

The quality of education obtained by the rural students as compared to students of urban areas and cities has always been a big question. 

Considering all these facts, the state Govt. has asked, the Directorate of Government Examination to conducted the quarterly and half-yearly exams from this academic year onwards.

Accordingly, the Directorate will prepare the question papers and send it across to CEO of all the districts through a CD.

The CEOs will be responsible to print, distribute and conduct these exams. However, the answer sheets will be corrected in the respective school itself.

Directorate of Examination sources, say, "Possibilities of question paper leakage is high in the Districts. Few problems do exist in the implementation of this process. We will take a final stand in few days."
