SRM to conduct Global Engineering Education Deans Council Summit

SRM University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi, to conduct the "Global Engineering Education Deans Council Summit" next year.
 
The summit is scheduled to be held in October, 2013 and SRM University is the first private university to conduct this event in the country, city-based SRM University said in a statement.
 
SRM University Chancellor T R Pachamuthu and ISTE President R Murugesan exchanged documents for the MoU.
 
The MoU also allows SRM to construct an additional building for the ISTE located on the IIT-Delhi campus, it said.
 
"SRM University will spend around Rs two crore in the construction of additional building, which will have conference, seminar halls, guest rooms spread over 20,000 square feet...", Pachamuthu said.
 
ISTE is a non-profit professional body launched in 1968 with a view to enhance the knowledge of engineering professionals and advance the technical education.
 
ISTE has 82,000 faculty members, five lakh students as life members and 2001 institutional members across the country, the statement said.
