Entrepreneurship training for Goa students

Updated on: Monday, June 04, 2012

Business entities will tie-up with educational institutes in Goa to impart entrepreneurial skills to students after they finish their formal education.

Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), in collaboration with Principal's Forum, Goa and Goa Commerce Association, has drawn up an ambitious three-year plan to train teachers on inculcating entrepreneurship amongst students.

The effort by academicians and industrial bodies to mould students into business persons is part of an initiative by I Create, India, a part of US-based I Create Inc, which has launched Change the Mindset (CMS) programme.

I Create is a non-profit organisation engaged in providing integrated entrepreneurship training. The CMS programme will promote entrepreneurship amongst college students, enabling them to be job creators rather than job seekers, I Create India Chief Executive Officer Ulhas Kamat said here.

As part of the programme, a batch of 20-odd teachers were trained over three days here on concepts like drawing business plan.

GCCI has decided to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with all colleges in the state to implement the programme on entrepreneurship.

"The Chamber has already signed an MoU with Panaji - based Dhempe College. In the next few days, we will be signing MOUs with all other colleges," GCCI President Manguirish Pai Raikar said.
