International policy dialogue beginning here on May 29 will take up a host of teacher-related issues like continuous professional development, gender matters and PPP partnership to address deficit in profession
HRD Ministry and the International Task Forceon Teachers for Education for All will be organising the 'fourth international policy dialogue forum' and the E-9 countries meeting on teacher-related issues.
Sharing details about the meet, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters that the aim of the meet and the benefit for India are to amalgamate the experiences that countries have on teacher-related issues and find ways to address issues concerning teacher training.
"Once we share we know the different avenues and ways other countries achieve in teacher training. We learn and understand the problem and because the international community is involved we can access to get their support," he said.
He said the meet assumes significance in light of the government revamping the teacher training programme.
"Our concern is shortage of quality teachers and in 12th plan we going to launch a mission on teacher education and set Rs 6300 crore," he said.
He explained that E-9 or education nine are countries such as China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nigeria, Brazil, Mexico who have half of the world population and home to two-third of the student population.
