Ph.D holders before 2009 exempted from NET/SET by HP University

Updated on: Monday, May 21, 2012

Ph.D degree holders and those registered in Ph.D before 2009 have been exempted from NET/SET for appointment as Assistant Professor by the Himachal Pradesh University.

The UGC had in its new guidelines made National Eligibility Test (NET) mandatory for appointment as Assistant Professor in Universities, Colleges and Institutions except for those who have "obtained" Ph.D degree before 2009.

However, Executive Council of the university made a deviation by allowing exemption to those who were registered for Ph.D before the deadline.

Informing the EC about the decision of Courts to fill the vacant posts in the Education department of the University, the  Vice-Chancellor A D N Bajpai said that the interviews for the post had already been held on May 12 and 13 and the Executive Council authorised the Vice-Chancellor to declare the results after Model Code of Conduct for the Municipal Corporation election was over.

The Committee consisted of Prof Dhani Ram Sharma, Prof O P Chauhan, Prof Kamaljeet, R K verma, Finance Officer and Chaudhary Waryam Singh Bains.
