India win gold at SAE International AWIM Jet toy Olympics

Students of St. Columba's school created history by winning the gold medal at the SAE International AWIM Jet Toy Olympics in Maximum Time Category, held at Detroit, USA.
   
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAEINDIA) had kick-started 'Jet Toy Olympics', a programme to introduce school children to the fundamentals of science, mathematics, technology and automotive engineering. The event was held under the banner of AWIM ("A World in Motion").
  
Competing with 125 teams from across the globe at the 6th SAE AWIM International Jet Toy Olympics held on April 25, St. Columba's students also bagged the fourth position overall.
   
The team had qualified for the International Jet Toy Olympics after emerging victorious among 25 most competent teams from all across India at the SAEINDIA National Olympics that was held here in Nov 2011.
   
"The students from St. Columba's, New Delhi have made India proud by becoming the only Indian team ever in the history of SAE International Jet Toy initiative to win a gold medal," said I V Rao, Managing Executive Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki and Chairman SAE Northern India Section.
   
Maruti Suzuki supports SAE student level initiatives like AWIM, Supra SAEINDIA and Efficycle, which nurture the creativity amongst students.
