A team of 18 students and faculty from Hamburg Media School in Germany arrived at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong to learn the impact of Indian media on the world's largest democracy.

They will attend classes on Indian media studies over the week before moving to Mumbai and Kolkata for interacting with members of a number of media houses.

Nils Grannemann, Faculty and Team Leader from HMS told reporters, "past experience of collaborating with IIM Shillong makes us believe that there is much intellectual input that can be garnered over the period of our stay".

Exchange programme between institutions in Germany and IIM-Shillong has gained much popularity, an official statement of IIM said.

The programme offers the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field of media studies with the support of a collection of resources and readings, in addition to expert views from across the country on the developments in the area of media business and management, the official said.
