Jamia to add acting course to nurture acting talents

The coming academic session will see the media institute of the University of Jamia Milia Islamia will be adding a new diploma in Acting to its list of offerings. Youngsters who hope to make a career for themselves in the field of acting can now turn to the prestigious University for a new course that will nurture them for the television and cinema industry.
 
The Postgraduate Diploma programme of the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre will be of a one-year duration and will offer a total of 20 seats to budding acting professionals.
 
The University has invited applications from interested candidates who are required to express interest by May 3, following which the applicants will be made to go through an entrance examination and an interview.
 
The course will train students in the art and intricacies of acting through a series of exercises, that will constitute the year-long programme's curriculum to polish the talents of the students.
 
"The Postgraduate Diploma Course in Acting aims to introduce the student to the fundamentals of acting and to make them informed observers of the acting experience," the varsity said in a statement.
 
It said the course will open avenues for students in theatre productions, television and film industries where they can take up future roles as actors as well as script writers.
 
Besides the entrance exam and interview, weightage will also be given to the portfolio of applicants and their background in acting-related activities.
