DCNS, Bombay IIT sign MoU

Naval defence company DCNS entered into a pact with IIT Bombay for education and research programs in naval defence and energy.

According to the MoU, research and development programs will be carried out jointly by IIT Bombay and DCNS Research teams while training of DCNS personnel will be conducted by IIT Bombay through continuing education programmes.
  
The MoU will also see sponsoring of Indian student projects and fellowships at IIT Bombay, said a statement issued by DCNS.
  
The MoU was signed by executive director of DCNS Alain Bovis and Dean of Academic Programmes in IIT Bombay Shiva Prasad.
  
 Bovis said, "This new development emphasises our investments in long term in India. It also aims to accelerate technology progress in mutually beneficial areas by tying up with one of the top Indian research centres,"
  
According to the statement, the research projects will be conducted in IIT Bombay with support of DCNS Research teams or in dedicated common facilities.
   
Thermo hydraulics, electrical engineering, material sciences are the promising areas of scientific interaction identified between the two organisations, the statement added.
