Agriculture varsity gets special grant

Dr R R Hanchinal the Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture Sciences expressed his happiness over the Union Government allocation of Rs.50 crore special grants to the University to take up various developmental projects. Talking to newsmen, he said North Karnataka was proud to be enlisted as the most prestigious among the five universities.

It was heartening to note the Union Government has recognized Dharwad University of Agriculture Sciences among 54 universities in the entire nation, he said

He further said out of the money allocated, a knowledge center giving impetus to research in the field of agriculture will be established in University Campus which will help in increasing the knowledge of the farmers in taking up modern farming.

A permanent place will be provided for 'Krishi Mela,' one of the most popular agriculture festivals, from funds allocated to the University,he declared

He also said the grant will also be utilized for the improvement of quality of education and welfare of the students of the University.

The Forest College of Sirsi in Uttara Kannada and Agriculture College at Hanumanamatti of Haveri District will be provided basic infrastructure from the fund.
