Aviation University on the anvil

The Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to set up a full-fledged aviation university to bridge the shortage of skilled personnel in the aviation sector in the country.

Mr Ajit Singh the Union Minister for Civil Aviation in his inaugural address at the 3rd International India Aviation 2012 here said the project will enhance the supply of trained pilots and other skilled personnel in aviation sector.

The Minister said that the government was keen to set up world class training and education infrastructure in the country, and the CAE Global Flying Training Institute at Gondia in Maharashtra and CAE Simulator Training Facilities at Bangalore are standing examples in this direction.

Mr Singh added that the Civil Aviation sector in the country will witness the emergence of several new institutions and firm regulatory framework will be put in place to address the growing challenges of safety and capacity in infrastructure, efficiency, viability of the sector and providing skilled human resources, including education and R and D effort.
