committee set up to decide on outside degrees

A high-level committee to decide on certificates and degrees obtained by students from private colleges and deemed universities outside the state through distance learning or regular basis has been set up by the Jammu and Kashmir government.

Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, informed the Legislative Council on behalf of the Education Minister that the government has constituted a committee headed by Chief Secretary to consider degrees obtained from outside the state for recruitment purposes.

The Service Selection Recruitment Board is presently considering the degrees obtained through distance mode from IGNOU, Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Department of Electronics and Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) for appointment to government as well as private jobs, he said.
