All set for SSLC exams

All arrangements are in place for the SSLC examinations beginning Monday, that will see more than 4.7 lakh students writing their papers. The examinations will end on March 26.

Education Minister Abdu Rabb told reporters here that 470,100 regular candidates and 7,313 private candidates have registered for the examinations.

This showed an increase of 11, 213 students from last year.

There will be no examinations on Fridays.

However, there will be examinations on Saturday, March 24. Examinations scheduled for March 17 has been postponed to March 26 in view of the Piravom bypoll.

Malappuram with 74,7266 students is the district with the highest number of students sitting for the exams.

The lowest number is in Iddukki, with 1,333 students.

The single largest contingent of 1,478 students will appear from the St. Mary's Higher Secondary School in Pattom, in Thiruvananthapuram.

The question papers would be stored in lockers of 173 nationalised banks and 324 treasuries for their safe custody.

In the Gulf, the question papers would be stored in the strong room of the Indian embassy or consulate as the case may be.

In Lakshadweep, it will be stored in the strong room of police stations.

The question papers will have double packing and the packets are to be opened only in the examination hall, in front of the students, the minister said.

The government has appointed 25,000 teachers for invigilation duty.

The valuation of the answer sheets would be held in 54 centralised valuation camp.

The general education department has appointed nearly 13,000 teachers for the valuation of the answer papers.
