MOU signed for Engineering College in Bilaspur

The government of Himachal Pradesh and National Thermal Power Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set up an engineering college in Bilaspur with hydropower engineering being offered as a  speciality. The Principal Secretary (Technical Education), Mr. S.K.Dass, Government of Himachal Pradesh and Mr. S.C.Gupta, General Manager Kol Dam Hydropower Project on behalf of NTPC signed the MOU in the presence of Himachal Chief Secretary, Rajwant Sandhu.

The engineering college would be set up at a cost of Rs. 100 crore and NTPC was contributing Rs. 37.5 crore for the project, according to Mr. Sandhu. the construction is expected to start soon.

This would be first engineering college of its kind in the country.

This is the first hydropower project taken up by NTPC which normally executes only Thermal Power project. The 800 MW Koldam project is being set up in Bilaspur district.
