World Bank loan for MP to improve higher education

The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to seek World Bank assistance to bring qualitative improvement in higher education. The Higher Education Minister Mr. Laxmikant Sharma told reporters after meeting a World Bank team that preliminary discussions were in progress and after wider consultation a detailed report would be prepared in this regard.

The World Bank team submitted a report based on a conference of education experts organised by the bank in september last year to the Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan during their meeting with him.

Mr. Sharma said that the interest for the long term loan would be at the rate of one per cent only. the details were being worked out and this initiative will give a quantum jump in the higher education sector in the state.
