Rs 35 cr fund for quake-hit schools in Sikkim

The Sikkim government has sanctioned Rs 35 crore for the reconstruction of school buildings damaged in the earthquake on September 18, last year.

The fund is the first phase allotment for the purpose, official sources said. The allocation of money by the government will boost the reconstruction works undertaken by the state human resource development department which has so far constructed 665 temporary classrooms through its internal resources, they said.

Besides reconstruction, the department would build 97 girls hostels, school auditoriam and other infrastructure, the sources said.
