The Centre has assured Arunachal Pradesh it would release its share of funds under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme for paying salaries of teachers.

The assurance was given to Arunachal Education Minister Bosiram Siram by Secretary of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development Anshu Vias yesterday when he called on her, official sources said here today.

Siram requested Vias for early release of capital and general heads of the Central share under the SSA programme so that the ongoing programme could be implemented smoothly.

Siram said, disbursement of salary with enhanced pay on time was the only way to keep the morale of the teachers high to compensate for other difficulties they faced.

Vias said that once the Finance Department cleared the formalities, the central matching share of SSA programmes would be released.

She also accepted invitation of Siram to visit Arunachal Pradesh from March 8.
