Majority of girls opt for ECE, CSE

In Anna University's engineering admission the record shows that, more girls prefer circuit branches like Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering.
According to university data, of the 21,397 seats available in computer science, 6,212 have been allotted till Tuesday evening. Of these, girls have picked up 3,988 seats.
In the ECE stream, of the 11,440 seats filled up, 7,077 have been taken by girls. Also, more girls than boys have chosen IT. Of the 3,459 seats allotted, 2,150 girls have joined the branch.

'As the circuit branches like computer science and ECE do not involve physical work, girls are attracted to them,' Mr M. Sekhar, dean of college of engineering, Guindy, said.
