CBSE counselling for students and parents

Updated on: Wednesday, February 01, 2012

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be offering counselling services to parents and students to help them deal with exam related stress and anxieties. The first phase of this counselling will start from Wednesday and will continue until April 16.

Keeping in mind the geographical spread and heterogeneity of its students, the Board's methods of communication will include telephonic counselling; question answers columns in newspapers, Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) and online counselling through the CBSE website.

The telephone counselling service has around 67 experts including principals, trained people from the CBSE affiliated schools and few psychologists participating. Exam-related psychological problems of students as well as other general queries will be entertained in this service. A toll free number, 1800 180 3456 will be functional for this service and students from any part of the country can dial into this service. An Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) mode will also be functional on the toll free number.

Special counselling arrangements have also been to address the needs and anxieties of specially-abled children.

The CBSE officials can also be contacted at [email protected] and [email protected].

Information related to examinations and techniques to cope with examination related anxiety are also provided at the CBSE website www.cbse.nic.inunder the special icon, Helpline.
