International fellowship programme

The Leibniz Association and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are running a new international fellowship programme. With the Leibniz DAAD research fellowship programme, up to 15 international post-docs can conduct research for one year at one of the 87 institutes of the Leibniz Association that they have chosen.

The Leibniz-DAAD research fellowship programme addresses qualified post-docs from all over the world who have completed their doctorate not longer than two years ago. They can apply directly to the DAAD for a grant in a free application.

Research areas

The research areas include humanities and educational research, economics, social and spatial sciences, life sciences, mathematics, natural sciences, engineering and environmental research.

Grants

The grants for post-docs can be awarded for up to a maximum of 12 months. The grant includes, a monthly instalment of euro 1,840; a monthly subsidy of euro 58 for the insurance for health, accident and personal/private liability in Germany (euro 53 per month has to be covered by the fellowship holder); a two-months German language course (if desired).

Application requirements

Applicants for a Leibniz-DAAD research fellowship should neither be of German nationality nor reside longer than six months in Germany. They should be able to prove their outstanding study or research achievements; they should have completed their studies with a PhD or equivalent degree and have an excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of German is welcome.

Application papers must be submitted in duplicate and in paper form. It cannot be accepted by e-mail. Also, incomplete applications will not be processed. To apply, please use the form Application for Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowships. The deadline for the submission of applications is March 20.
