Former state Director General of Police R Nataraj took over as Chairman of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC), which has been rocked by an alleged recruitment scam.

The Jayalalithaa Government on Jan 20  appointed Nataraj to head the nodal recruitment agency, to fill the vacancy caused by the recent resignation of incumbent R Sellamuthu who quit in the wake of alleged irregularities in recruitments by the Constitutional body.

Sellamuthu and other TNPSC members had come under the Vigilance probe and sleuths had raided their office and residential premises in the past two months.

Speaking after taking charge, Nataraj assured transparency in the functioning of TNPSC and proposed to videograph examinations conducted by the commission as part of this vision.
