An FIR was lodged against the suspended Block Education Officer (BEO) of Hira, Prasad Sah of Benipatti block in Madhubani district charging him with committing regularities in recruitment of teachers in government schools in 2008 and stealing file in this regard, an official said.

BEO Rajendra Prasad lodged the FIR against his predecessor at Benipatti police station charging Sah with committing irregularities in the appointment of teachers in the government schools and stealing the said file from the office, the District Education Officer (DEO) Sriram Singh said.

Prasad had recently submitted a report to the district magistrate Saurabh Kumar that the file containing details of the recruitment of teachers were missing from his office and accused his predecessor for stealing the file to destroy evidence against him, he said.

Acting on the report, the district magistrate directed the BEO to lodge an FIR against Sah at Benipatti police station which was duly complied, the DEO said.

Sah was earlier suspended by the district administration after it was detected recently that as many as 23 teachers were recruited on the basis of false certificates and academic qualification in connivance with the then BEO and panchayat representatives, Singh said
