The Angel College of Engineering and Technology, Tirupur, organized a national level technical symposium, ‘Angel Arena-09’, on its premises, on July 24 and 25. As part of the event, competitions on web designing, group discussions, quiz and fashion show were conducted. Hundreds of students from different parts of the country attended. College sources said that the symposium was aimed at improving technical skills of the students. A science exhibition was also organized at the venue. Earlier, V.A. Sastry, director of RELQ Software Private Limited, Bangalore, inaugurated the symposium.

The Department of Social Work of C.S.I. Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science is supporting nine children whose mothers are in prison. The children are in the age group of three to 15. Every year the children are given textbooks and uniforms.

This year P. Govindharajan, Deputy Inspector General of Prison, gave away the things to the children in the presence of college Secretary Susheila Williams.

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College organised a lecture on “Financial Assistance for Pursuing Research” for faculty members. V. Balasubramanian, Professor, Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Annamalai University, highlighted the approach to get financial assistance from various Government organisations like AICTE, DST, DRDO, etc., for pursuing research and upgrading existing laboratories.
