Schools directed to install GPS in their buses

Learning a lesson from the Ambala road mishap in which 13 children were killed, district authorities have directed all private schools to adopt security measures like installing Global Positioning Systems in vehicles transporting children.
 
The schools have been directed to install GPS along with navigator in their buses within next two months.
 
Jhajjar DC Ajit Balaji Joshi while addressing a meeting with representatives of schools owners here warned that any sort of laxity in adopting the security measures in their school buses would not be tolerated and stern action would be taken against those found guilty.
 
"The school owners must pay special attention to the security measures in their buses so as to avoid the recurrence of Ambala like grim road mishaps. Maintenance of the buses should be done at regular basis so that any possible fault in the engine of the buses rectified well in time," said the DC, adding that most of the road side accident took place following the mistakes of the bus drivers who should be
engaged with the school buses after taking their driving test.
 
Joshi maintained that the GPS was also instrumental in holding control and keeping a tab on the bus drivers as it gave accurate information of speed and location of the buses to the school owners.
