Finale of Tata First Dot National competition

The grand finale of the “Tata First Dot” 2 day conference powered by NEN, Indias first national recognition and mentoring platform for student start-ups, was held at the SSN College of Engineering, Chennai on the 9th and 10th January, 2012.

With over 600 students/student entrepreneurs participating in the conference. The national winners of the two competitions- Tata First Dot National competition Judgess choice awards and Tata First Dot Peoples choice competition were also announced on the 2nd day of the conference.

The 10 winning ventures (please find details in annexure 1) were selected from a competitive pool of over 200 student ventures from all over India.

The 30 shortlisted ventures including the 10 winning entries will be provided professional mentorship via NEN mentoring platform for one year and will be given an opportunity to network with entrepreneurs, angel investors, mentors, experts and fellow student start-ups.

The 5 winners of the Tata First Dot National Competition were selected by a panel of eminent jury members comprising of successful entrepreneurs, angel investors and Tata leaders.

The entries were evaluated in terms of marketing opportunity, business model, distinctive competence, investment obtained, track record and growth potential.

In a parallel competition, the Tata First Dot Peoples Choice competition, further 5 winners were selected through a process of online public voting, which attracted nearly 60,000 votes.
