Bihar sanctions Rs 583 cr for school uniforms

The Bihar government sanctioned Rs 583 crore for making available Rs 500 to each student towards purchase of uniform and educational materials under the Chief Minister's uniform scheme.
  
A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here.
  
Cabinet Secretary Ravi Kant told reporters that the amount would be sanctioned under the state plan for education department for government schools and minority institutions.
  
Under the CM girls uniform scheme, the government would provide Rs 700 per to each of the 5,660 girl students for the purchase of uniforms.
  
The cabinet also decided to give an assistance of Rs 992.86 crore to Agriculture University at Sabour in Bhagalpur for 2011-12.
  
The state cabinet also annulled the system of negative marking in appointment of constables in Bihar police and lowering the stipulated height of candidates for the job of Bihar Police constables.
  
The meeting also decided to hike the salary and allowances of Chairman and members of Bihar Women's Commission.
