CBSE invites applications for AIPMT

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the All India Pre-Medical/Dental Test (AIPMT) for admission to 15 per cent of the merit seats in the MBBS and BDS course in medical and dental colleges in India, except in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Applications may be submitted online through the website www.aipmt.nic.in till January 25 without late fee.

Applicants should be Indian citizens of age 17 to 25 as on December 31, 2012. The upper age limit is relaxed by five years for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes.

Those who have passed Plus Two with physics, chemistry, and biology or biotechnology with minimum 50 per cent marks (40 per cent for reserved sections) taken together for these three subjects and have passed in all subjects, including English, separately are eligible to apply. Those appearing for the examination in 2012 may also apply.

The application fee is Rs.1,000 (Rs.550 for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and those physically challenged). Instruction for applying online can be had from www.aipmt.nic.in/aipmt/online/instruction.aspx

Take a printout of the confirmation page, affix two recent photographs in the specified box and sign, and send the confirmation page, along with the demand draft for the application fee, to the Deputy Secretary (AIPMT Unit), Central Board of Secondary Education, Shikshakendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi – 110 301 by registered or speed post so as to reach there on or before February 2. If the online application is submitted from January 26 to February 8 with the first late fee of Rs.500, the last date is February 15, and from February 9 to 24 with the second late fee of Rs.1,000, March 2. There will be preliminary and final examinations. The preliminary examination — one paper having 200 objective-type questions from physics, chemistry and biology — will be held on April 1. In Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi will be the test centres. Those who are qualify in the preliminary examination will be called for the final examination to be held on May 13 at the selected centres, including Kochi.
