JK govt to suspend principals of zero pass rate schools

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has ordered suspension of principals of those government schools in the Valley which have registered zero pass percentage in the recently declared matric examinations result.

"At a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister yesterday, a decision was taken to suspend those principals of government schools which have registered zero pass percentage in the recently announced matriculation results," a spokesman said here today.

The Education Department has been advised to issue notices to such private schools also so that appropriate action is taken against such institutes, he said.

66 per cent of the 50,000 students appeared have qualified in the class-X JK state board examinations, the results of which were declared on Wednesday. However, the performance of government-run schools in Kashmir was abysmal with at least nine of them registering zero pass percentage.
