University to help livestock farmers of Majha

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana would help needy livestock farmers of Majha region and would make direct rapport with the farmers, said Dr Ranjodhan Singh Sahota, Director of Extension Education while interacting with farmers during an Animal Welfare and Training Camp organized at Regional Research and Training Centre (RRTC) of at village Booh in Tarn Taran village on Thursday.

During the training camp an interactive seminar was organized wherein experts delivered lecture on different aspects of cattle rearing like feeding, breeding, housing and management of animal etc. The farmers were also updated regarding the adequate management of animals for increasing productivity.

Stressing on the need for diversification, Sahota said that diversification was the need of the hour and dairy farming had proved to be the best alternate to diversify from agriculture. Around 150 cases of buffaloes, cows, bullocks and dogs were treated in this camp. Majority of cases were of mastitis, anoestrus, repeat breeding, mastitis, pregnancy diagnosis, tick infestation.

Director Research, GADVASU D. SNS Randhawa said that this new created centre will be beneficial for tillers of Majha Region. "Farmers will get all the facilities, trainings and researches at their doorstep" he said.
