Non-teaching staff protest entry of foreign universities

Protesting the entry of foreign varsities in the country, a confederation of university employees has said it will oppose the proposal at the national level.
 
The All India Universities Employees Confederation also called for gherao of Legislative Assemblies to press for their demand of formation of a separate pay commission and UGC pay-scales for non-teaching staff of the universities.
 
The decision was taken at the end of a three-day conference of the confederation held in Mohan Lal Sukhadia University here.
 
Over a thousand representatives from 200 universities across the country participated in the conference. The confederation consists of non-teaching employees of universities across India.
 
One of its key demands is the formation of a pay commission similar to the one for teaching staff formed by the United Grants Commission(UGC). The members also want UGC pay scales for non-teaching staff.
 
Bhawani Shanker Hota, president of the confederation and former member of Lok Sabha from Sambalpur, Orissa said that the policy of the government of India to invite foreign universities is anti-people and will be opposed at the national level.
