Jamshedpur Womens college, the first autonomous college of Jharkhand, has been recognized by US-based International Accreditation Organisation(IAO) today, college faculty member (eds correct college faculty member) Dr Keya Majumder said.

An intimation in this regard has been received by the college authorities today, Majumder, who had been co-ordinating the entire process with IAO for last few months, said. IAO was the authority to grant accreditation to higher educational institutions across the world and Jamshedpur Womens college was the first one in the state to achieve this feat.

Following the production of the necessary documents in this regard, a team of IAO evaluated Jamshedpur Womens college and recognized it. The recognization was based on various requirements such as proper infrastructure of the institution concerned, academics records and managerial capability of the management of the institution, among others, she said.

The students of the college will be provided with IAO logo, which would help them in seeking admission any university across the World, she said adding that it would also help to promote student exchange programmes with the IAO members.

Jamshedpur Womens college had already been accorded A grade recognition by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body under UGC (UGC), few months ago.
