Bioinformatics course

The University of Hyderabad has signed a memorandum of understanding with GVK Bio-Sciences, Hyderabad for jointly offering a two-semester postgraduate diploma course in bioinformatics in distance mode.

The course will help students gain familiarity in basic concepts of bioinformatics with focus on identifying, obtaining, establishing, maintaining and exchanging research information in biology. It will impart knowledge to students on sequence analysis, sequence evolution (phylogenetics), genomic analysis and functional genomics with equal emphasis on protein structure, folding and prediction with extensive use of molecular graphics.

Candidates with minimum 60 per cent marks in the B.Sc. course or minimum 55 per aggregate marks in M.Sc., B.Sc. (Honours), B.Tech., B.Pharm., B.Sc.(Agriculture), B.V.Sc., BDS, and MBBS. or an equivalent degree in Indian Systems of Medicine may apply. The course fee is Rs. 20,000 per semester.
